For outdoor enthusiasts The Duddon Valley provides a variety of peaceful walks and cycle routes available from the front door, including Harter Fell, Seathwaite Tarn, Caw Fell and the Coniston Fells beyond.
Views come as standard round these parts and guests can enjoy views to Crinkle Crags and the Langdales beyond, with the High points of Scafell and Scafell Pike looming in the distance.
The local country pub, The Newfield Inn is only a 20 minute stroll or 2 minute drive away and the market town of Broughton-in-Furness with its amenities & road to Coniston is just 6 miles away.
For larger families or groups the neighbouring cottage, Duddon View, offers accommodation for a further 4 guests which together provide ample space to sleep 8 guests comfortably across the two cottages. There is also the bonus of an additional pull-out bed, perfect for a toddler or young child, taking the total number of beds to 9.

Upon entering through the stone-built porch and 6 panelled wooden door guests find themselves greeted by a warm embrace of beamed ceilings and traditional features. The lounge still boasts its original slate floor and provides glorious views of Caw Fell and the Old Man of Coniston, which can be soaked up and enjoyed from the deep window seat. The focal point of the room is the large, log-burning stove, guaranteed to warm even the coldest of toes in the deepest of winter. For relaxing in the evening there is a large Smart TV and comfortable seating for 5.
Adjacent to the lounge is the light-filled dining room awash with traditional features such as another fireplace and wooden floor.
Riverside Cottage open-plan kitchen has been carefully refurbished to a beautiful standard and provides modern facilities such as an electric hob, oven, fridge-freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. Further seating by French doors to the garden and its wonderful views beyond complete the kitchen - a perfect place to watch the world and seasons go slowly by.
A well-lit staircase with a window for admiring the view halfway up your ascent leads to the first floor of this delightful cottage.
The first room you reach is the family bathroom. This luxurious space features a roll-top bath for post-walk relaxing, W.C. and wash basin.
A few further stairs up lead you to the cottage's 2 comfortable bedrooms. Bedroom 1 is a haven of relaxation and tranquillity. Decorated in peaceful shades of lavender the room features a comfortable king-size bed and incredible views from the cottage window.
Bedroom 2 can be conveniently arranged as either a twin with two, full-sized 3ft single beds or with one super king-sized bed. For flexible sleeping arrangements there is also a pull-out bed, ideal for a toddler or young child. An elegant room in shades of white and duck-egg and with more of those picture-perfect views of the surrounding fells to enjoy.
The first floor is finished off by the ultra-modern shower room, complete with walk-in shower a second W.C. and wash basin.

The drive through the Duddon Valley and over the Wrynose Pass is certainly not to be missed during your time in the area, it offers amazing views across the southern Lake District from one of the most spectacular mountain roads in the UK.
From Seathwaite visitors can visit the Memorial Bridge and stepping stones near the Newfield Inn. Seathwaite Tarn also is nearby, where fly fishing is available with a permit available from the inn. The village of Ulpha and its riverside setting is a favourite amongst locals and visitors during the warmer months. Over 300m of grassy riverside allow those who visit a chance to picnic, relax and wild swim in the various pools and shallows of the river.
The largest town in the area, Broughton-in-Furness dates back to the 11th Century and is situated to the south west of the Coniston Fells making it a great base to explore some of the quieter and most beautiful parts of the Lake District. Just a couple of miles from the village is the small hamlet of Broughton Mills and the highly acclaimed Blacksmith's Inn that offers great local food and beer.
