Once a Methodist Chapel, built in 1859 by Cornish miners, Chapel Bank House is now a cottage with a difference, benefitting from 21st century comforts in a historical building with many original features.

The house is laid out over three floors and is upside down in layout with its living areas located on the top floor (trust us the views are worth the climb).

Chapel Bank House is a well-appointed property with quality furnishings and appliances. The cottage is a great base for active families and groups, or just for relaxation, perfectly located for access to the fells, with local village amenities and pubs all a short walk away, and perfect to come home to after a satisfying day out!

"Your comfort and well-being are our priority from the luxurious wool duvets with 100% cotton covers to the leather recliner sofas. Our aim is that you have a holiday with everything that you need for energetic pursuits or relaxation and refreshment." - Chapel Bank Owners.

Customer Comments

The cottage was fabulous. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Aside from the access into the garage, which was difficult, we would highly recommend the cottage and had a fantastic time.

Really big light airy space, both bathrooms were clean and warm. We found the whole house very comfortable and the beds comfy! Getting the key was so easy and cooking facilities were good. There's also board games and loads of videos. We came with a dog and very young baby and the space was perfect. Close to the centre. Lovely views of Coniston lake too and the fells.

We loved staying at Chapelbank. We loved the views of Coniston and the feeling of peace in the house - Petra particularly loved the wool duvets and silky smooth bedding which she didn't want to get out of in the mornings! The location is perfect for some lovely hill and lake walks! We walked every day! The house is perfect and would be great for a family Christmas holiday - I'm talking to my parents about the possibility of doing this!

C.T, Mar 2015

What a super Christmas we have had at Chapel Bank!  Extremely comfortable. A fantastically resourced kitchen with everything we needed to prepare & serve our numerous Christmas feasts!  We parked our 2 cars with ease in the garage on arrival, which was so convenient for unpacking as it was a very wet day, in fact we haven't moved the cars at all as we have been so well positioned for walking, the tea shops and the pubs! Beautiful views from every window, with plenty of room for all 6 of us. We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay.  Many thanks.  Congratulations on a first class property.  I am sure that we will return!
