Brow Close is a charming whitewashed cottage overlooking Coniston village. This popular property enjoys the most fantastically serene garden, complete with delicate local slate structures.

This comfortable cottage offers a myriad of comfortable and spacious rooms over two floors, perfect for families and friends to come together or find their own space. Outside there is an ample lawned garden and delightful terrace, the perfect place to sit, reflect and enjoy the fabulous views of the lake and fells or just watch the world pass by.

The amenities of Coniston village are all within easy walking distance and footpaths are close by, heading down to the lake, or into the fells and The Old Man of Coniston.

In essence Brow Close Cottage is a must for friends, families or those seeking comfort and outdoor adventure straight from the doorstep.

Ground floor
Upon entering the front door there is an ample welcome hall which leads off into the spacious living areas, downstairs bedroom and house bathroom. Each room benefiting from large windows letting the light shine through and the lake & garden views to be fully appreciated.

The lounge/dining room offers panoramic lake views, TV, DVD & living flame fire.

The newly refurbished dining kitchen comprises electric oven, gas hob, dishwasher, microwave, fridge and views of both the lake and Coniston.

Guests can also make use of the utility room with washing machine, dryer and freezer and the games room and garage area, perfect for storing away bicycles and other outdoor equipment.

Bedroom 1 - twin single beds, a spacious room which looks out onto the rear garden.

Light and bright bathroom with bath, shower and w.c, there is also a separate w.c available.

First Floor
Up the stairs you will find a further two bedrooms, both equally spacious and one benefiting from an en suite shower room.

Bedroom 2 - double bed and views out onto the garden and fields beyond.

Slate paved terrace with garden furniture offering lake & valley views. The cottage also benefits from one of the best gardens in Coniston, a large lawned enclosed garden with seasonal shrubs and trees. There is also a small pond so young children may need supervision.

We can offer free use of a 1 acre enclosed field in Coniston village, perfect for off the lead running, walking, training and playing. Use by arrangement only. Please contact the office for availability.

Local Activities

Coniston is an excellent centre for outdoor enthusiasts, with some superb climbing, walking, water sports, fishing and cycling to be had all year round.

For cycling enthusiasts there are some fantastic trails to be found in the area and the delights of Grizedale Forest are only a short ride away. For runners of all abilities the Lakeland Trail series visits Coniston yearly offering 5k, 10k, marathon and half marathon options. A favourite events amongst visitors and locals is the annual Coniston 14, 13.9 miles of scenic beauty as runners of all ages lap Coniston Water. For endurance athletes the Montane Lakeland 100 & Lakeland 50 events depart from Coniston each July and a whole host of water sports can be enjoyed down at the boating centre. Lastly for those who come to walk the area, no trip to Coniston would be complete without a climb up the Old Man of Coniston.

However for those who like to keep their feet firmly on the ground there's The Ruskin Museum, which depicts the fascinating history of the area including the famous water speed record attempt of Donald Campbell and on the eastern shores of the lake lies Brantwood the Victorian home of philosopher John Ruskin, where regular events and art courses are held. Should you just wish to relax during your time here then the tremendous landscape of cascading waterfalls, streams, lakes and mountains should help you switch off from modern life. Delights such as Tarn Hows and Grizedale Forest are nearby and prove to be ever popular with visitors of all ages.

A fabulous stay in a very comfortable cottage. Beautiful views, it was great to be so near the village with wonderful walks nearby. The darts and table tennis were a great hit on rainy days. I'm sure we will be back it was all brilliant. We will miss the beautiful song thrush morning and night.
